If it passed validation, then you can be assured they know what they're doing. This is the easiest test on the World Wide Web that tells it all- whether a web design company can make or break your business website investment.
If they can't validate their own company website, chances are extremely good, they won't validate your website. Validation on the web is everything, when it comes to website efficiency, search engine friendliness and performance success. PERIOD!
